Nearly 30 editors have left The New Republic amid editorial shakeups and changes to the publication’s frequency, location and direction. Franklin Foer has resigned as editor, a position he has held since TNR’s reboot under Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes in 2012. Replacing Foer is Gabriel Snyder as announced by CEO Guy Vidra, who joined TNR in September from Yahoo News to conceive a new direction for the brand. Snyder most recently worked for Bloomberg News after stints with Atlantic’s The Wire and Gawker. Additional resignations from TNR include: literary editor Leon Wieseltier, executive editors Rachel Morris and Greg Veis, senior editors Jonathan Cohn, Isaac Chotiner, Julia Ioffe, John Judis, Adam Kirsch, Alec MacGillis, Noam Scheiber, Judith Shulevitz and Jason Zengerle.
Additionally, TNR plans to move its headquarters from Washington to New York and cut the publication frequency from 20 issues annually to 10. A new direction as a digitally focused media company is also in the works. These announcements were met with much criticism from journalism pundits and former staffers, sparking much discussion over social media. So proud of the work we did @tnr and grateful for my brilliant, funny, decent colleagues. It was a joy and an honor to work there.

I couldn't have been luckier to work with these people at this place. The honor of my professional life. It was just so much fun, you know.

Feel so lucky that I got to work at Herbert Croly's and Walter Lippmann's magazine for 17 years. Thanks to readers and my great colleagues.

So I just resigned from @tnr. People do muuuuch harder things every day. But boy was it brutal. A great ride for 14 years.
