Layoffs have hit the newsroom at The New York Times. As of this week, media reporter Leslie Kaufman and sports reporter Mary Pilon are no longer with the paper. Kaufman had been at NYT since December 1999, working for nearly every department during her tenure. Pilon joined the publication in 2011. Additionally, longtime reporter Matthew L. Wald has taken a voluntary buyout and will exit on Dec. 19. He has been on staff since 1977.
