David Beard has been named the executive editor for PRI’s The World, effective in December 2014. He is currently the director of digital content for The Washington Post, where he was previously the site-wide engagement editor. Prior to that, he was the deputy editor in chief and digital editor at the National Journal. His extensive background includes serving as the editor of Boston.com and as an assistant managing editor for the Boston Globe’s five regional editions. He also worked as a reporter for the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, a correspondent for the Associated Press in the New York City, Mississippi, Argentina and Puerto Rico bureaus, and as a reporter for The Plain Dealer in Cleveland.
