Following the ongoing changes at the paper, several staff members have announced their departures at The Tennessean. Brian Haas has left the paper to become the public information officer for the Nashville Fire Department. He previously was a crime reporter. Haas joined the Tennessean as a police reporter in April 2010.
Scott Stroud, previously the politics and government editor, has left the Tennessean to become regional news editor covering Kentucky and Tennessee at the Associated Press, starting in November 2014. Stroud joined the Tennessean in October 2011.
Michael Cass has left to become a communications adviser and speechwriter for the Nashville Mayor’s Office. He was a local governments reporter at the paper and joined in September 1999.
Kevin Walters, city reporter covering Franklin, Tennessee, has exited as well. Walters was previously an economics and energy conservation reporter with the Tennessean. He occasionally covered growth and development issues.
