Michael Pointer, longtime sports reporter for The Indianapolis Star, has moved into a new role covering Butler University sports and WNBA’s Indiana Fever. Most recently a general assignment sports reporter, Pointer first joined the Star in October 1998 after stints at the Evansville Courier & Press and The Kansas City Star. Pointer’s beat switch is just the latest move in a restructuring project currently involving many of Gannett’s nationwide newsrooms.
