Former Slate editor David Plotz has joined Atlas Obscura as chief executive officer. Before his departure, Plotz had transitioned to editor at large and for the website after serving as editor for six years. Prior to joining Slate in 1996, Plotz worked as a senior editor and staff writer for the Washington City Paper. Julia Turner, editor in chief, will continue to oversee all editorial at Slate. Atlas Obscura is a community driven, editor-curated blog featuring unusual and overlooked travel destinations and is available on Facebook.
