The New York Times has announced that national correspondent Trip Gabriel, who oversees the Mid-Atlantic region, will switch gears to become political correspondent for the paper. Gabriel is expected to be covering the 2016 elections. Meanwhile, Jennifer Steinhauer has been named Mid-Atlantic bureau chief.
