The Virginian-Pilot has welcomed back Patricia Richardson as president and publisher following the departure of David Mele, who will become president of Homes Media Solutions. Richardson most recently served in the same role for the Carroll County Times in Westminster, Maryland and the Capital Gazette in Annapolis, Maryland. She previously served as advertising director for Landmark Community Newspapers Inc. in Shelbyville, Kentucky. She originally held several advertising management positions at The Virginian-Pilot, after serving as a general manager for the paper’s North Carolina operations.
Replacing Richardson as publisher at the Carroll County Times and Capital Gazette are Trish McCarthy Carroll and Tim Thomas, respectively. They both arrive from The Baltimore Sun, where Carroll was the senior vice president for customer engagement and Thomas was senior vice president of business development.
