Hector Tobar has announced his exit from the Los Angeles Times. He first joined the paper in 1988 and most recently covered books and culture. Tobar has accepted a teaching job at the University of Oregon and his new book, Deep Down Dark: The Untold Stories of 33 Men Buried in a Chilean Mine and the Miracle That Set Them Free, drops next month.
