Margaret Low Smith, senior vice president of news for NPR, will leave her post in August after serving in the role since February 2012. Prior to that, she was acting senior vice president of news for the network and vice president of programming. She previously spent ten years as a producer of All Things Considered. From 1985 to 1989, she served as a producer and news writer for Live at Five on KRON-TV in San Francisco. She first joined NPR in 1982 as a production assistant for Morning Edition.
