Reuters announced that the news service will be hiring and shuffling around staff to total seven U.S. Correspondents at various bureaus.
In the New York office, Laila Kearney will join from the San Francisco bureau. Jonathan Allen, already based in the New York office, will join full-time as a correspondent in July. Both had previously been contract writers for Reuters for the respective bureaus. Additionally, Curtis Skinner will leave the New York bureau for the San Francisco bureau in September. Skinner has been a general assignment reporter since fall 2013.
Coming from the Seattle office, contract writer Jonathan Kaminsky will join the New Orleans office. He had worked for the outlet in Seattle since 2012.
Originating from Reuters’ international bureaus, deputy bureau chief Daniel Wallis will move to Denver in June, coming from the bureau based in Caracas, Venezuela. Chief correspondent Fiona Ortiz will move to Chicago in July from Madrid, where she had been since 2010.
Finally, Letitia Stein, most recently of the Tampa Bay Times, will join the staff at the Tampa, Fla. bureau. She had been with the Times for a decade.
