Mike Topel has been named interim executive editor for philly.com, the news hub for local dailies The Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia Daily News. This marks a return to the parent company for Topel, who previously served as senior digital editor for The Inquirer in 2011, on staff with the paper since 1999 in several editorial roles. He was most recently a news editor for Digital First Media, overseeing news channels for the newspaper chain’s Project Thunderdome initiative.
