Fifty-year veteran of journalism John Wilson has announced he is retiring this November from WTVT-TV, the FOX affiliate for Tampa and St. Petersburg, Florida. He first joined WTVT-TV as an evening anchor in September 1993. Wilson’s career also included stints at stations in St. Louis; Portsmouth, New Hampshire; Richmond and Norfolk, Virginia and Charlotte, North Carolina. In addition to numerous awards from the Society of Professional Journalists and the Associated Press, Wilson also served in the U.S. Army and served with Armed Forces Radio in Panama, receiving the Army Commendation Medal for Excellence in Broadcasting.
