The first rule of the Beautiful People’s club is that you MUST talk about the Beautiful People’s Club. The second rule of the Beautiful People’s Club…well you get the joke.

Every year, People magazine publishes its list of beautiful women and sexiest men. I think People makes the choice to objectify the men a bit more to help balance out other annual lists like the Maxim Hot 100, GQs sexiest women and the other 145,000,000 results that come back when you Google “hottest women list.” Also, sorry for having Googled “hottest women list”. That feels sexist.

That said, the Beautiful Women’s list is full of prominent women who are smart, talented, interesting and, of course, aesthetically pleasing. The Sexiest Men’s list is full of equally fascinating, debonair pieces of eye candy. Collectively, they comprise the “Beautiful People’s Club”.

Here’s who’s on the list this year:

1

I’m glad Lupita was named Most Beautiful Woman. Her outfits alone could have a spot on this list. I even like her Met Gala outfit. Some people said it looks like a flapper mermaid at best, or a fish net at worst:

2

But as a girl who spent a significant portion of her youth recreating iconic moments from the Little Mermaid…

3

I think her dress is fun.

In any case, I couldn’t help but be curious…which Beautiful People’s Club member gets the most buzz? What about the boys vs girls? I took a look at the months before and after each list came out to see what which Beautiful People were talked about in terms of overall chatter, physical appeal, and most importantly, personality appeal – as in, which beauty listed would people most want to be friends with (the ultimate sign of true beauty). Here’s how it broke down.

Ladies:

4 5 6

We had a consistent top four: Kerry Washington, P!nk, Mindy Kaling and Amber Heard.

Kerry Washington:

7

Kerry’s discussion was driven by her massively successful show Scandal, whose finale aired just before the list came out, as well as the recent birth of her daughter. In fact, the latter of the two seemed to drive most of the conversation.

Mindy Kaling:

8

Mindy has won the love of many through her incredible wit, successful show (The Mindy Project), flair for fashion, and honest approach to being a “normie” in a Hollywood world full of, well, stereotypically Hollywood sized women. Also, there’s a Buzzfeed quiz about which actress would play you in the movie version of your life and the answer could be Mindy Kaling!

P!nk:

9

P!nk has always been vocal about embracing who you are. Her role as a CoverGirl has taken that to new heights and much of her conversation was driven by a campaign with CoverGirl promoting #girlscan. The campaign joins many CoverGirls together (Queen Latifah, Katy Perry, Ellen DeGeneres and more) to discuss all the things girls can do, despite being told they couldn’t. It reminds me of another campaign, #banbossy.  In either case, it’s feel-good messaging.

Amber Heard:

10

Undoubtedly beautiful, Amber’s conversation was predominately driven by her fairly recent engagement to Johnny Depp.

Gentlemen:

11 12 13

Clearly, Justin Timberlake dominated each category and many of the others contended the follow-up spots. However, based on averages, our top four are Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars, Jimmy Fallon and Pharrell Williams.

Justin Timberlake:

14

How Justin has maintained this level of cool for so long is truly amazing. A huge portion of his chatter was his musical guest appearance on the Saturday Night Live Christmas episode that was hosted by Jimmy Fallon.

Bruno Mars:

15

Bruno Mars is all about his music, and so is the discussion about him. All of his discussion was about his songs, different remixes, upcoming performances and award shows.  I’ll never forget my favorite Bruno Mars performance:

16

Jimmy Fallon:

17

The other half of the Jimberlake bromance, Jimmy Fallon, continues to be one of the reasons women list “a sense of humor” as one of the most attractive traits. Jimmy’s conversation was driven by his new Late Night hosting gig and many of the features on his show, i.e. Lip Sync Battles.

Pharrell Williams:

18

Pharrell had a year of big hats. I mean hits. Okay, both. He’s made the sound of the summer and, like Bruno Mars, when people talk Pharrell they talk music. Specifically, his collaborations. We are all waiting to see what he does next.

So with the top ladies and the top gentlemen, who’s the most beautiful of the Beautiful People?

19In overall conversation, the boys dominate. And Bruno Mars, with his major appearances (the Super Bowl Halftime Show) takes the cake.

20

Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake top the personality category, with Justin having a bit of a positive edge. Clearly, Timberlake is the dude we most want to have a beer with.

21

And when it comes to the physique, the boys still lead the conversation with Timberlake taking it again. So we have two lists, but ultimately there can be only one most beautiful person.

You’re welcome. #itsgonnabeMAY
