Tina Akouris has announced on social media that she has been laid off amid the most recent round of cuts at the Chicago Sun-Times. She had been a sports reporter and writer for the paper since August 2002, originally joining the staff as a copy editor in December 1999. The Sun-Times maintains a sports-centric Twitter account.
