A blogging tribe, where a community of readers act as your brand ambassadors and visit your blog on a regular basis, comment on your blog posts and publicize your articles on their social media platforms, sounds like a huge stroke of luck or a complicated business task.
But it’s not.
It’s actually much easier than you think, and often a whole lot of fun! As a massive twitter fan, here’s a few tricks I’ve learn about tweeting up a blogging tribe.
Tweet Quality Content
Besides tweeting up your latest blog posts, are you providing additional value to your twitter followers? Creative copy writing, humour, beautiful pictures and curating relevant content by other bloggers are great ways to attract a loyal following. Don’t just publish your blog title and its link on twitter, show us your personality and make the experience fun!
#Hashtag Your Tweets
#Hashtagging keys words are a great way to expose your tweets to new followers, as #hashtags curate lists of tweets within a particular topic. Find out some popular hashtags that are relevant to your blog theme today.
Start Conversations
One of the best way to start conversations and make friends is by asking engaging questions. What do your followers think of an article? What are their weekend plans? What will they like you to blog about next? Who are their favourite movies?
Show an interest in your followers’ life and they will be more likely to show an interest in your blog.
Listen To Your Followers
Another way to show interest in your followers is to read their tweets! It’s also great market research to find out what are the trending topics among your community. Too many tweets to follow? Use a cheat sheet and create a list of your most engaging followers.
Ps & Qs
Everyone likes good manners, so show your followers some thanks whenever they follow you, retweet you, add your tweet to their favourites list or engage in conversations with you. Taking the extra time and effort to thank your followers make you stand out from the sea of twitterers too!
Reward Your Followers
Besides thanking them with words, the twitter “action” is to show them some love via #FF, or #FollowFriday, shout outs. Make your followers feel special and they might return your kindness with loyalty.
Do Upon Others
Do you smile when your tweets receive favourites, retweets, replies or other forms of acknowledgement? Why not do the same for your followers and make them smile too. Kindness begets kindness, and social media interactions begets more social media interactions!
I guess building a supportive blogging tribe is similar to building a group of friends in real life. You try to be an interesting person, put yourself out in social situations to meet new friends, be polite, sincere and hopefully receive reciprocative friendships. So start tweeting, make some new friends and have a blast on twitter today!
