Lose weight. Quit smoking. Spend time with family. Get out of debt. According to TIME, these are among the Top 10 Commonly Broken New Year’s Resolutions.
But where are the resolutions for PR, marketing and social media professionals? What are we promising to improve or achieve in 2013?
I polled Seek Or Shout users and the fine ladies of Cision’s Social Team to uncover some industry-related goals. Read the responses below, and feel free to list your resolution in the Comments section of this post.
My social media resolution is to learn more about Pinterest’s new boards for businesses so I can help my clients use this new tool. I also want to get better at using Google+.

My resolution is to be a more regular blogger across both my business blogs. This I have already begun (once resolved, there is no reason to delay for January 1) by putting together a bit of an editorial schedule and preparing some advance posts for when things get rushed!

I am hoping to have more followers, better content and more amplification in 2013!

Oh, I have so many! I think my number one is better organizing my time. In social media, it’s especially hard because it’s constant and there’s always something or someone to be addressed. However, I aim to better divide my time so I can do the ‘extras’ to take our department to the next level.
Lisa Larranaga – Social Media Manager at Cision
I would like to better engage influencers over Twitter. And for once, I’d like to not procrastinate on writing blog posts! If you think I’m generally coherent, wait until you read something I didn’t brainstorm at midnight…
Teresa Dankowski – Community Manager for Seek Or Shout
Execute a successful Pinterest campaign! Get rid of slow phone and finally purchase an iPhone so I can actually tweet on the go.
Gina Joseph – Social Media Community Manager at Cision
My #1 resolution for 2013 is to focus on creating more original, relevant content for our company blog and social media networks as well as develop guest posts for other sites and blogs. It is our belief that strong content = strong community and in our effort to create a strong community of marketing to women/mom thought leaders, a focus on content creation is a top priority for 2013.

Updated 12/12:
To educate and inform a wider market, target leads in an earlier stage of the buying process and those that may not even know about our solutions. To track and target, be smarter about where we’re investing time and energy. Produce and provide more consultative advice to those on the hunt for answers. Marketers are super savvy and if you can provide a solution that helps them communicate their message easily and more effectively, they just get it. To this end we launched a new user-friendly website, scala.com, but we’re just now beginning to refocus on PR, social media and more “outbound” marketing. Looking forward to seeing what 2013 brings!
