This week, Twitter released its 2011 Hot Topics list, a end-of-year rundown of  its most tweeted topics, people, stories and hashtags. In second place, behind #Egypt, is #Tigerblood, the term actor Charlie Sheen coined as an explanation for his bizarre behavior this summer.

As the Sheen circus dominated the news agenda and #Tigerblood spread faster than wildfire, one media expert developed a unique perspective on the story.

While many onlookers saw a spectacular public meltdown, The New Rules of Marketing and PR author David Meerman Scott saw in Sheen a master of real-time media manipulation and content creation at work.
