At midnight last night, part one of Twilight’s Breaking Dawn movie series opened in theaters everywhere… The first night of what’s expected to be a busy movie weekend bringing out the craziest of “Twi-hards.”

Regardless of the fact that I most definitely have plans to go see this movie tonight like a pre-teen girl, there has been a lot of social buzz around the first movie installment of the fourth book in the Twilight series.

So, here’s a quick look at the social media activity about Breaking Dawn over the past week:

  • Over the past 7 days, there have more than 58,453 mentions posted in anticipation for the movie across the social Web.
  • There were 43,600 unique authors on Twitter with a total potential impact of 2,401,886 people.
  • Apparently people were excited for the movie release, with 65% of mentions on Twitter expressing positive sentiment, 15% neutral and 20% negative… On Facebook, 76% of mentions were positive, 12% were neutral and 12% were negative.
