This week’s featured profile is… iPhone 4s!
Today is the first day of availability for the newest iPhone model. While last week’s announcement left some disappointed, pre-ordering was made available last Friday and the phones hit stores today. There has been a variety of attitudes and opinions about the “new model” — the sentiment of which we captured as a snapshot using our Social Sentiment Chrome plugin for Twitter: According to @viralheat the sentiment for “iphone4s OR “iphone 4s”” is 44% positive, 17% negative and 38% neutral across 440 tweets
Here’s a quick look at some of the social media activity about the iPhone over the past week leading up to its release:
- Over the past 7 days, there have more than 60,979 mentions posted about the iPhone 4s across the social Web.
- There were 43,612 unique authors on Twitter with a total potential impact of 26,425,589 people.
- Twitter users didn’t feel very strongly one way or another, with about 55% of the mentions expressing positive sentiment, 27% neutral and 18% negative.
- On Facebook, users were a little more positive, expressing 69% positive sentiment, 20% neutral and 11% negative.
- The top influencers by impact on Twitter (excluding publications) are @elizadushku (“Truth be told: I really want an iphone 4s”), @karaswisher and @nukman based on number of followers.
- @viralheat identified 6,674 leads with its Human Intent feature.
- On Twitter, 59% of mentions contained links and the top day for posting was Sunday.
- The top six countries sharing on the real-time Web were United States, Japan, Germany, United Kingdom, France and Spain.
