Jay Crandall is primarily looking for economic stories that aim to help consumers become more successful as money savers, job hunters or small business owners. He is also interested in stories with a “twist.” For example, he once covered a family who adopted three children at one time. “We like some offbeat things,” Crandall says. “We do some celebrity stuff – not as much as we used to.”
He accepts national stories, but prefers to localize them. “If there’s a tie-in with the person coming in locally or if there’s a local person that can talk about it, that’s always good,” Crandall says. Pitch him via e-mail; he recommends including a “support video” that the station might be unable to get on its own.
KTVK-TV is an independent television station broadcasting to Phoenix and the surrounding area.
