Scott Picken is interested in receiving anything with a local perspective that will appeal to his audience. “There has to be some sort of Omaha or area interest for us to pursue it,” he says. He prefers press releases that focus on the human aspect of a topic or event. “Just try to make it as interesting and as relevant as possible,” he adds. Pitch him by e-mail; he accepts high-resolution images and attachments. A follow-up call is welcome; however, repeated calls regarding the same pitch are not appreciated. Picken says PR firms should be “as clear and concise as possible, avoiding trade-speak.”
